AN
AUDIO MESSAGE ABOUT DAILY DEVOTIONALS
FROM OUR FOUNDER, LISA
== click stop to discontinue ==
Do
you feel God may have a plan but you're too
depressed and spiritually dried up to
pray? You wouldn't know where to start?
Do
you long for just 1 person who actually
understands what it's like to live with chronic
illness? Someone who knows that even going to
Walmart can be a challenge? And someone who
also drives around the parking lot 3 times,
trying to decide if she should use her disabled
placard or not?
Do
you want to feel refreshed and reminded
that God is still in control--even if it seems
He's just working under-cover right now?
Welcome
to Rest Ministries daily devotionals where
we can provide some refreshment, reminders
and even a few giggles, for your illness journey.
Our daily devotional have been around for
years and is one of our most popular and consistent
forms of encouragement.
We
invite you to sign up (see below).
These
devotionals will make you smile, sometimes
shed a tear, but they will always be written
by someone who understands living with daily
chronic pain and illness and they will always
direct you back to what we put our true hope
in, our Savior.
"Each
day the daily devotional is like salve to my
soul. I have been struggling in the last month
with depression due to chronic illness--bipolar
illness. I recently signed up to receive your
daily devotionals and each day I look forward
to the uplifting feeling they bring." T.F.
I
am devouring Mosaic
Moments: Devotionals for the Chronically ill
book and am going to be opening and
closing my Bible study with devotions from it.
What an incredible book it is. Speaking through
pain is never easy, but God gifts us well to
suit our "disabilities." -Diane R.
I
have been receiving Rest Ministries devotionals
for about three months-ever since I turned to
the internet to find someone who would understand.
I needed to hear someone say "it's okay
to be angry at your limitations, and it's okay
to hurt, but there is a place to look for help.
That place is God's Word!" The devotionals
from you are just what the many friends and
family had ordered. Through the weeks that have
followed, I have been nourished and encouraged
by the daily thoughts, and have begun to pass
them on to others who are enduring pain. I have
been in touch with some of the authors, and
have been encouraged by their words. That is
what I wanted to say, and I want to thank you
for all that you have meant to me and the ways
you have encouraged me. -Ruth F.

A
Note From Kay, the Devotional Coodinator
I
was an English major in college. I have always
found that I can communicate in words better
than speaking in large crowds of people. Writing
has always been my love. When I had Hodgkin's
Disease I had many people praying for my recovery.
I promised God that I would thank Him by serving
Him and try to inspire the Hope in Christ that
kept me alive and pursuing onward in the midst
of a life threatening illness.
been
a godsend to me and has inspired the hope in
that I am not alone, that there are countless
others who are suffering in chronic illness
and pain. I just want others to know that God
is always there. I want others to know that
there is always hope in Jesus Christ-- one is
never alone.
I
enjoy reading and writing, taking long walks
on the beach and gazing at the ocean, photography
and needlework. I also enjoys spending time
with my hubby, Joe, and fur-person friend, my
dog. When I get a chance I love regressing like
a child and playing with my 2 nieces and 2 nephews
who are the love and joy of my life.
Kay is a volunteer and is unable to respond
to every email, but she appreciates receiving
your notes of encouragement. To write to Kay,
send a note to her here.
